Enough About Eve

What did you guys think about Enough About Eve?

The tables get turned in Enough About Eve in more ways than one. Instead of Blair in the spotlight, we now have new rising star, Vanessa. This episode starts off with Blair fuming with the fact that Vanessa becomes one of the finalists to give the parent’s night toast. I don’t know about you, but enough with the Blair bashing already!  This poor Blair scenario seems to be case ever since these ladies started college, which, to be honest, I’m starting to find a little bit tiring. I’m sure I’m not the only Blair fan at heart who wishes that Blair didn’t have such a rough time in NYU. Sure, Blair does have her mean moments, but we all know its her quirks and dysfunctional behavior that make her the Queen B we know and love! Let’s hope the show’s writers come up with a story line that ends with a Blair triumph.Otherwise, it’s just not as fun!

To make things a more little complicated than they already are, we now have Vanessa, trying to pull a few Blair schemes of her own when she finds out that it’s her roommate and Dan’s girlfriend, Olivia Burke, who is chosen to give the Parent’s night toast. To be fair, the girl is not Blair, and we have to expect her schemes to be a little less ambitious but really? I personally found her plans really simplistic and overtly amateur. The hidden microphone seemed like the oldest trick in the book, and how Blair would fall for it was just beyond me! Also, was it just me but was Vanessa let off the hook really easy by Dan and Olivia? Now in comparison to what Blair had to endure, the “confrontation” with Dan and Olivia was again, simplistic. I’m glad the mom was there to make Vanessa feel a little more guilty, and a lot more sorry.

I also have to mention that I’m a little dissapointed at how the show’s writers are handling Serena’s character. From starting out as a pivotal character, she seems to have faded from the limelight a little. From an independant girl, it’s amazing how fast she’s become too Carter-dependant. Hopefully, we get the real Serena back soon. The same can be said about Nate Archibald. Sure, he was a lot of things- cougar-lover and two-timer among others, but he never seemed the type to sell out his friends. I wonder if this is the sign if a meaner Nate to come…

As for Dan and Olivia, there’s nothing really special about them. There seems to a total lack of chemistry, which I hope, can be remedied soon!

Moving on to more pleasant things, it’s really good to see Gossip Girl embracing same sex relationships. They started out with Eric coming out, and have now moved on to more daring scenes. I’m talking about Chuck’s on-screen kiss with NYU alumnus Mr. Ellis. It’s amazing and refreshing to see what Chuck would do for Blair, especially after his hesitation to even say those 3 words from last season. A must-mention too was his new haircut, which made him look extra dashing this week!

All in all, a not so great Gossip Girl episode. However, I’m not worried as it’s still early in the season, and I’m sure we can expect more juice! We wait with bated breath to see what becomes of Chuck and Blair. Will they survive another week? What about Serena, will she finally find a new guy to fall for, as well as a new way to become more involved in the show? Does this week’s last scenes mean a friendship between Vanessa and Blair is in the works? The only way to find out, is to tune in next week, so I guess I’ll be seeing you all then!
